 The key properties of zirconia are:

- high density (higher than other ceramic, lower than tungsten carbide or steel)
- high fracture toughness
- high operating temperature (> 2,300 °C / 4,200 °F)
- very low thermal conductivity
- oxygen ion cunductivity

- high corrosion resistance

- good impact resistance

- good wear resistance

- non wet by molten metals (except Titanium)

- relatively good thermal shock resistance
